معظم الوالدين يعتقدون أن أسنان الأطفال سوف تعوض بأسنان دائمة والاهتمام بأسنان الأطفال ليس بذلك الأهمية وهذا ليس صحيحا فأسنان الأطفال ذات أهمية كبيرة وقد فصلنا ذلك بقسم لأهمية أسنان الأطفال.

هناك أنواع عديدة لطرق علاج أسنان الأطفال ولكننا سنركز على أهمها.

Most parents believe that the children teeth will be  replaced by the adult teeth and taking care of the child's tooth is not that important. The children teeth are important and we discuss it in other section in this site.

There are several types of treating the children teeth but we will discuss the most important.

أ/ أبسط الطرق وهي الحشوات وذلك بتنظيف السن من التسوس ثم وضع الحشوة المناسبة لكل حالة.

1/ The simplest method used is the restorations in which the tooth is  cleaned from caries and restored with one of many materials used each having advantages for a certain condition.

ب/ هناك نوع من العلاج بطب أسنان الأطفال ويسمى التاج المعدني أو التلبيسه المعدنيه وهي مصنوعة من مادة الستانليس ستيل ويوضع على السن ويغطيه من كل الجوانب. ويستخدم في حالة إذا كان السن مدمر أو ضعيف بحيث لا يوجد به جدران خارجيه تتحمل ضغط المضغ أو وضع حشوات به، وكذلك نستخدم هذه التلبيسه إذا عالجنا اللب الداخلي للسن (وهو الجزء الداخلي للسن وبالتالي لا يكون السن حيا بشكل كامل أو جزئي)، ونستخدمه لهذه الأغراض لكي نحافظ على وظيفة السن وخاصة الأضراس أما الأسنان الأمامية فلدينا نوع آخر من التلبيسات المشابهة لوظيفة التلبيسة المعدنية ولكن بشكل أجمل حيث أنها أسنان أمامية وتكون مشابهه للون الأسنان الطبيعية.

2/ There is a type of restoration used in children dentistry called the Stainless Steel Crown this is a type of restoration in which we place over the tooth covering it from all surfaces and this is used when the tooth is badly destroyed or if we have done treatment to the heart of the tooth and need a restoration to allow the tooth to return to its normal function. In the front teeth is usually not esthetic to place a steel crown so we use another type which takes the color of the tooth and gives a natural look.

ج/ بعض الأحيان يكون هناك حاجه لعلاج  لب السن الداخلي (وهو الجزء الداخلي الحي للسن الذي يقوم بتغذية السن) وذلك إذا كان التسوس عميقا وقد وصل إلى لب السن وبالتالي نقوم بعلاجه بطريقتين:

 جزئية فقط تشمل الجزء التاجي أو العلوي من السن أو بطريقة كاملة تشمل كامل السن.

3/ Sometimes the caries in the tooth is too large that it reaches the heart of the tooth which is called the pulp when this happen we usually remove the dead pulp tissue and put a filling in its place so the tooth can function normally.

This can be made partially (only the crown of the tooth) or completely (whole tooth).

د/ بعض الأحيان لا نستطيع المحافظه على السن فنقوم بخلعه أو يفقده الطفل لأي سبب كالإصابه وبالتالي ينتج عنه أضرار كثيرة أهمها تداخل الأسنان وتحرك الأسنان باتجاه السن المخلوع وبالتالي يضر الأسنان الدائمة. ونعالج ذلك بوضع حافظ للمسافات لكي نمنع تحرك الأسنان وتظهر الأسنان الدائمة بشكل طبيعي ونقوم بعدها بإزالة حافظ المسافات.

4/ Sometimes the ability to save the tooth is impossible and the early loss  of the teeth is inevitable in this case the remaining teeth start to move and cause crowding or loss of space affecting the adult teeth. We try to avoid the moving  and crowding of  teeth by placing     space maintainers which will be removed when the adult teeth start to come out.
